Neil Hayes Painting & Decorating Ltd was appointed by City Build to deliver the complete painting and decorating package for Project Joy—the transformation of a former council building into a modern youth and community space in Birkenhead.
Our work extended throughout the building, including corridors, toilets and a range of large multifunctional rooms. These included spaces converted into a new coffee shop and function room, alongside further activity and community areas.
The extensive internal package included preparing and painting walls, doors, frames and skirting boards throughout. Ceilings were spray-finished in a variety of colours, helping establish a bright, energetic identity suited to the building’s new purpose.
External works included painting railings and selected areas of the building’s exterior, creating a consistent and refreshed appearance inside and out.
The five-month project was completed within a closed construction site, with our decorators coordinating closely alongside electricians, builders and other specialist trades. Careful programming and communication allowed each stage to progress efficiently and contributed to the successful completion of the wider conversion.
